The Sheep
at Sheep Hollow Farm and Fiber

Thirty years ago, our flock consisted of Romney, Polypay and Polypay x Romney sheep. As using the wool for hand spinning was our primary goal, these breeds and crosses provided us with a wide spectrum of fiber types from which to choose. They also produced plenty of market lambs. Our gardens benefit with what we consider to be superior compost – our robust crops proving this this to be true.

Today, we’ve moved away from the market lamb aspect of sheep husbandry to focus exclusively on fiber production. In 1999 we added Shetland sheep to our flock and have been entertained by their goat-like antics in addition to being delighted with their fiber – it's myriad colors and it's many textures.
